It had been a few months since you and Soul had started dating. Naturally, you had your share of fights and tense days, but that was part of being in a relationship.

One of those times happened to be now.

“_______, this mission is too dangerous,” Soul growled, baring his teeth.

“Soul, I lived on the streets for two years with Brian. We can handle ourselves just fine,” you snapped back.

“Not with this one! She's almost as strong as Asura!” Soul argued.

“Almost as strong.  I can take this one. You don't control me, Soul!”

“Damnit, _______, I don't want to lose you! Soul exploded, shaking you slightly. “ I love you too much!”

You stared at him, shocked. He never made outbursts like this, and it made you melt a little.

Soul abruptly let you go. “So uncool,” he muttered.

“I love you too, Soul,” you smiled softly, placing a hand on his cheek. “But I have to do this. I need an evil witch soul for Brian so can be a Death Weapon. I can't let him down. What does that say about me?”

Soul laid a hand over yours and sighed. “I get it, because I want to become a Death Scythe too. You can go.”

“I wasn't asking your permission,” you raised a brow.

“I meant you can go without me being pissed, I mean,” he blushed slightly.

“But you'll worry too much. Luckily, your hair is already white, because with the amount of worry you'll be doing, you'd surely go gray.” You chuckled fondly and kissed him before he could say anything.

He kissed you back. “Be careful, okay?”

“I will.” You kissed him again, long and lingering, and left to get Brian for the mission. You didn't have to go far.

“You heard it all, didn't you?” you accused your weapon, who had been standing out the door the whole time.

“Yes,” Brian grinned, unashamed. “You guys are cute.”

“Shut up.” You cuffed him over the back of his head.

He sobered and looked at you. “We're going on a dangerous mission. You talk to your uncle?”

You nodded. “You talk to Liz?”

He nodded back.

Together, the two of you traveled quickly to the last known location of this evil witch. You crept carefully into the building, Brain as a katana at the ready.

The witch surprised you. “My, my, ______. So you lived after all.” The voice came from behind.

“Who are you?” you demanded, whirling around.

“Why, don't you recognize me? Your father surely had photos of me!” she said cheerily.

“Wha – Mother?!” You were thunderstruck. This woman...this evil person...was your mom?
